I am a psychiatrist and I write the blog Real Psychiatry.

My interests in psychiatry are varied and include all aspects of medicine even where the psychiatric applications seem minimal, basic science and clinical basic sciences, data analysis, neuroscience, the clinical practice environment, psychotherapy and all of the rhetoric and politics that is inappropriately applied to the field.  I am also very interested in human consciousness and see it as the future of the field.

In my 30 years of experience, I have worked extensively in inpatient, addiction, and neuropsychiatric settings.  I have had very positive experiences with my psychiatric, medical and surgical colleagues in all of these settings.
